Return to Power Outage Management

SERVICE RESTORATION

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has a mandate regarding
electric utility system performance.  While we use every available
means to minimize system disturbances, an uninterruptible system
has yet to be built.  In the event of a power system outage on a
nondisaster level, Texas-New Mexico Power Company will follow
these procedures:

  • A customer will contact their representative via their REP
    or through the toll-free number.
  • The representative will log the call and verbally dispatch the information via the company's two-way radio system to a qualified technician.  Employees are "on call" for after-hours emergencies and are readily available in the areas that are affected.
  • The field technician will relay back to the customer representative upon completion of work during normal hours and provide a report in the morning of the next working day when after hours.
  • The customer representative will then notify the respective electric provider of the event.
